Workshop: Adaptation to climate change in the Arctic
Adaptation to climate change in the Arctic :
A two and a half day workshop on selected emerging scientific challenges and their associated methodological and ethical challenges
February 17-19, 2016 Observatoire de Versailles-Saint-Quentin, Guyancourt, France. A joint CEARC research centre, BRISK and ARTisticc project workshop.
This two and half day work session will aim at identifying key ethical challenges associated to adaptation to climate change research in the Arctic by engaging a dialogue between thematically connected projects that have been dealing with the following three central research questions:
- What are the narratives that sustain action in the arctic in the face of climate change?
- How are all forms of knowledge integrated into environmental decision making?
- Can adaptation to climate change foster transition to sustainability in the arctic?
We will alternate formal scientific presentations with facilitated focused exchanges. The focus of these exchange while being thematically grounded in the research questions identified above. The issues of methods and ethical challenges will be explored inasmuch as possible.
The output of the work done will be publicized, and a rendezvous will be taken to see what progresses have been made on these front next year. Publication in a special issue of a national or international peer reviewed journal will be explored.
